Bitten hard by the blues bug while serving with the Marines in Lebanon in the early ‘80s, Russ is a naturalborn showman, Paoli native and sharp dresser whose uptempo arrangements, ballads and classic Chicago blues interpretations are guaranteed to get your hips shakin’. He has played with harpist Rod Piazza on numerous occasions, and sat in with the great guitarist Jimmy Rogers and local harmonica great Steve Guyger. Russ is a master of the diatonic (marine band) and chromatic harmonicas. Stylistically, Russ blends the best of traditional blues with the “Uptown” sound made famous by the great jumpblues bands of the post-war era. When Russ and his Shakedancers take the stage, the crowd will be jumpin’ the blues along with him.
